James Garrett - Founder & CEO at Brain by Design For over a decade, James Garrett has been studying and teaching the psychology of success, and unpacking the brain science behind what makes human beings thrive. As an entrepreneur, scientist, and coach, James is passionate about turning what scientists know about the brain into practical tools that anyone can use to change their lives, and that innovators can use to change the world. Having built a highly successful social startup—and having gone through a major burnout along the way—James feels deeply and personally that we need to change the way we live, work, and innovate. All of his coaching products teach powerful, 100% evidence-based tools that help individuals, entrepreneurs, and startups maximize their productivity and creativity by designing their lives with the brain in mind. James was the Co-Founder and Co-Executive Director of Think Unlimited, a social venture working to catalyze innovation and entrepreneurship in the Middle East. His work (including one of the first and only curricula on creativity and innovation taught in the Middle East) has been featured in the New York Times, FastCompany, LinkedIn, Harvard Business Review, and Arab Investor. He’s the recipient of the prestigious Draper Richards Kaplan Social Entrepreneurship Fellowship, was a finalist in the Echoing Green Competition, has been an invited member of CGI, and a speaker at TEDx and Harvard Arab Weekend. His writing on snap judgments, self-efficacy, and emotional intelligence has been published in top scientific journals, including the JPSP and Plos ONE. He graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa in Psychology from Columbia University.
